Materi Bahasa Inggris: Passive Voice

 

PASSIVE VOICE

Digunakan untuk menunjukkan ketertarikan pada seseorang atau objek yang dikenai tindakan dan bukan seseorang atau objek yang melakukan tindakan.

 

1. Passive Voice pada Simple Present Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + V1 + O

Passive voice : O + am/is/are + V3 + by + S

S = subject

V = verb (kata kerja)

O = object

Contoh:

AV : My father washes a car. (Ayahku mencuci sebuah mobil)

PV : A car is washed by my father. (Sebuah mobil dicuci oleh ayahku)

 

AV : I write a love letter for my boyfriend. (Aku menulis surat cinta untuk pacarku)

PV : A love letter is written by me for my boyfriend. (Surat cinta ditulis olehku untuk pacarku)

 

2. Passive Voice pada Simple Past Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + V1 + O

Passive voice : O + was/were + V3 + by + S

S = subject

V = verb (kata kerja)

O = object

Contoh:

AV : I watched a television last night. (Aku telah menonton televisi malam lalu)

PV : A television was watched by me last night. (Televisi telah ditonton olehku malam lalu)

 

AV : We visited grandmother on last holiday. (Kami telah mengunjungi nenek pada liburan yang lalu)

PV : Grandmother was visited by us on last holiday (Nenek telah dikunjungi oleh kami pada liburan yang lalu)

3. Passive Voice pada Simple Future Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + will + V1 + O

Passive voice : O + will be + V3 + by + S

S = subject

V = verb (kata kerja)

O = object

Contoh:

AV : Security will ask us to show our id card. (Pihak keamanan akan meminta kita untuk menunjukkan kartu identitas)

PV : We will be asked by security to show our id card. (Kita akan diminta oleh pihak keamanan untuk menunjukkan kartu identitas)

 

AV : The farmers will harvest the crops next month. (Para petani akan memanen hasil panen bulan depan)

PV : The crops will be harvested by the farmers next month. (Hasil panen akan dipanen oleh para petani bulan depan)

4. Passive Voice pada Present Continuous Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + am/is/are + V-ing + O

Passive voice : O + am/is/are + being + V3 + by + S

Contoh:

AV : I am reading a comic right now. (Aku sedang membaca komik sekarang)

PV : A comic is being read by me right now. (Komik sedang dibaca olehku sekarang)

 

AV : My friends are not building this big mall. (Teman-temanku tidak sedang membangun mall besar ini)

PV : This big mall is not being built by my friends. (Mall besar ini tidak sedang dibangun oleh teman-temanku)

 

5. Passive Voice pada Past Continuous Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + was/were + V-ing + O

Passive voice : O + was/were + being + V3 + by + S

Contoh:

AV : We were not renovating our house last month. (Kami tidak sedang merenovasi rumah kami bulan lalu)

PV : Our house was not being renovated by us last month. (Rumah kami tidak sedang direnovasi oleh kami bulan lalu)

 

AV : The boss was calling Suzy yesterday. (Bos sedang memanggil Suzy kemarin)

PV : Suzy was being called by the boss yesterday. (Suzy sedang dipanggil bos kemarin)

 

6. Passive Voice pada Future Continuous Tense

Pola kalimat:

Active voice : S + will + V-ing + O

Passive voice : O + will being + V3 + by + S

Contoh:

AV : I will giving you a good idea. (Aku sedang akan memberimu ide bagus)

PV : A good idea will being given by me. (Ide bagus sedang akan diberikan olehku)

 

AV : Grandfather will visiting us next week. (Kakek sedang akan mengunjungi kami minggu depan)

PV : We will being visited by grandfather next week. (Kami sedang akan dikunjungi oleh kakek minggu depan)
